Farmer's Market Finds
Purple carrots and yellow tomatoes. The feel of paper money slipping through your fingers instead of a plastic cards. Coins clinging in your pocket. A soft reggae version of "I'm Yours" plays in the background.
Must be farmer's market.
I walk home with three bags filled with goodies -- carrots and fresh greens, local honey and just-baked bread, smoked salmon and heirloom tomatoes with the dirt still on them -- and I ask myself, "Why don't I do this more often?"

Its so true, there is something so nice about the simple trade of cash for food. I'm in love with my local farmers market not just for the delicious food but for the whole community feel of it. Also I've been meaning to ask you, your photos are always so beautiful, what kind of camera do you have?
ReplyDeleteExactly! Very earthy, very community. I think that is way we are meant to be...
DeleteI shoot with a Nikon D3000. It was the basic basic Nikon three years ago. Nowadays the same kind (just different number) is much better than what I have, and they cost about $600 or so. Check out Costco or Best Buy for good deals :)
thank you so much I'm in the market for a new camera and you always have such great photos :)
DeleteI haven't been to the Farmer's Market in such a long time! And purple carrots? That sounds cool! I've never seen those before!
ReplyDeleteWe LOVE the Farmer's Market!!! It is seriously my happy place. I could spend hours there! The best fruit and veggies, locally produced, no pesticides, free entertainment for the family. My sweet Maddie loves to look for new foods to try and we have a great time cooking together later. We've had rainbow chard, purple carrots, turnips, kale, purple cauliflower, brussels sprouts right off the stalk! So much fun.
