How much is 'some'? A 'little bit'? I didn't know, so I asked her... "Oh, ya know," she said, "just enough."
Grr!
How can I make it if I don't know if we are talking a little bit as in a half a teaspoon or a little bit as in a half of a cup???
I know I am not alone in this. And so, I am breaking things down here. Today I will share my favorite side dish ever -- mashed potatoes.
You can really use any kind of potato, but the cheapest/most common kind is Russet potatoes...
(And by 'a little bit' I mean about a Tablespoon ;) )
Thank you so much for this! I never know what they mean by 'a little bit' either haha. This break down makes it easy.
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome! I started this blog after I had the basics of cooking down, but I was thinking the other day how there are so many 'basics' that nobody ever shares on a blog because they are just that -- basic. So, I am attempting to share my experience with these every once in awhile for people like us -- those that can't just go with 'a little bit' :)
DeleteI loveee mashed potatoes too!!! Thanks for another recipe!
ReplyDeleteThey are da bomb, are they not?!

Thank you for finding me!
DeleteThis is too funny. My mom is a great cook, but not much of a teacher! She would say a little bit of this... But then I'd say "what if I put too much?" she 'd tell me to add more of something else to balance it out. I guess she is just good at cooking without a recipe. She hates measuring things before cooking.
ReplyDeleteBut it's great that you're doing posts like this . .. I need things to be broken down for me when it comes to cooking! Have a great Labor Day!
I know! I think all moms are like that, but in my opinion, Brazilian moms are more so!!! When I know how to cook something well (like mashed potatoes) I don't measure, but I thought there has got to be someone out there like, so it is time to measure ;)
DeleteI will do more like this because learning is easy if you know what to do!
What an awesome post! I cook everyday from curries to flat breads from scratch n consider myself a food snob BUT I don't make Regular American food since its so readily available! U have no idea how clueless I was as I was thinking of making mashed potatoes lol lol
ReplyDeleteThank u for an awesome recipe I will continue to check back for more!
I am sorry I took so long to comment on this -- I had attempted to the other day, but it looks like I hit "log out" instead of "publish". Oops!
DeleteSo happy to hear this can be a great help to you! I remember not knowing how to makes mashed potatoes, but once I learned I made them all the time. So easy and everything goes with them! I wish you SUCCESS!
